![]() ![]() Black nylon edging features grommets for easy attachment to wire exercise pens, kennels, crates, RV canopies, trees, and more. Special weave allows air to circulate to ensure proper ventilation, keeping pets cool and comfortable. These remarkably innovative, incredibly lightweight canopies are made of a highly reflective material that blocks intense sunlight. Our ProSelect® Solar Canopy helps shade pets from the harmful effects of excessive heat caused by the sun’s rays. Prevent overexposure to sun and heat while allowing pets to enjoy fresh air outdoors. The plan is to rig up a swamp cooler and see if that can cool the crates enough for them to be under the topper in the summertime if I want them enclosed so we can go on the highway etc, so we'll see how that goes.Protect pets from the blazing sun and allow them to continue their enjoyment of the outdoors with this solar canopy. Even picked up a cheap used dog ramp so they aren't jumping in and out of the bed all the time. We did a bit of training with me sitting in the truck bed up and down a long driveway until the dogs got used to the crates and now they run right in no problem. I keep a couple of temperature gauges in one of the crates so I can monitor and also have a hammock for if they do go inside the truck. ![]() Also got the double door which provides a lot of extra airflow. I got white so they actually stay fairly cool. I love them so far, I can take them in and out of the truck by myself and I find I'm taking them in and out a lot so it's much more convenient than a stainless steel one would have been. I ended up ordering a FasTop soft topper - you can run it as an enclosed topper, an open canopy, it folds down so you have an open truck bed and it also acts as a tonneau cover! We just installed it yesterday so I can update as I use it but so far it's sturdy and so versatile!!!įor crates I was going to go with an insulated custom Ainley as two Gunners would not fit between the wheel wells in the Colorado but my truck came in about 6 months sooner than expected so I ended up with a couple of Rufflands. Thought I'd post an update here in case it helps anyone. Nova, Whiskey and I thank you in advance for any feedback! I will definitely be picking up a thermometer so I can monitor temperature from inside the cab. Not sure if there is anything available for a cooling system? We were thinking about rigging up some sort of AC unit if needed but I'm still looking into what is available commercially. What does everyone use? Do the insulated crates really stay cool enough to be safe in the summertime? I'm only using these for transport, dogs will not be left in the truck bed unattended at any time, but if we head into the city are these crates safe sitting in traffic etc? It would be nice to not have a cap on the truck as we will also be using it to transport the four-wheeler & dirtbikes but we can also trailer those if need be. My biggest concerns are safety in a crash and temperature control (Canadian here, we've got cold snowy winters and hot, humid summers - 100F +). Also considering putting a cap on the back with crates inside. I've been looking into those impact crates you typically see for working/hunting dogs. I'm wondering what you all do for transport for your dogs? If I get a truck the dogs will be travelling in the bed. I'm considering getting a truck as my next vehicle. ![]()
